Donations are vital to the project and are so greatly appreciated too (hence the list of items to give you an idea!).
Adult inpatient Kits
Going by the title, these kits are self-explanatory; aiming to provide the ‘essentials’ to adults who are unprepared for a spontaneous, acute hospital admission; the focus mainly being on hygiene products.
Kit Contents:
- Hygiene/Cosmetic Products (soaps, non-aerosol deodorants, wipes, flannels, sanitary items, face wash, shampoo/conditioner, hair brushes, hair bands/clips, moisturisers, lip balms).
- Drinks & snacks
- Entertainment/Distraction Activity (e.g. arts and crafts; crochet/knitting, cross stitch, embroidery, puzzle books, colouring, reading book, etc.)
- Fluffy Socks & loungewear (including slippers!)
- Emergency mobile phone chargers
Children’s Inpatient Kits
As per the ‘adult inpatient kits’, these kits are fairly self-explained. The major different is on the focus of these kits, and instead of being on toiletries & cosmetics, the focus is on amusement and distraction, such as toys and games.
Kit Contents:
- ‘Child friendly’ Hygiene/Cosmetic Products
- Drinks & snacks (including a small juice syrup – ‘robinsons squeez-y)
- Entertainment/Distraction Activity (e.g; colouring, reading book, bubbles, puppets etc.)
- ‘I was brave’ certificate with stickers
- Small Teddy
- Toys
Hospital Nurse Kits
Aimed at nurses working on the ward, this kit contains a small array of items, including :
- Tea
- Herbal tea
- Coffee
- Snacks
- Mug/cup
- Biro pens (black)
- Fob watches
Bulk Item (hospital ward kits).
Another approach to ‘Katie’s Care Kits’ is providing a ward with the same item in relation to the number of beds they have, and with the intention of it remaining on the ward permanently rather than taken home by the patient on discharge; as is the intention of the individual patient kits.
Some examples of items that could be a chosen item include:
- Bedside Fans
- Cups/Mugs/Jugs,
- Phone chargers
- Reading Books
- Games/toys
- Crafts
- Clothing/PJs/slippers
- Snacksq
If you have any hospitals/hospices in mind that you think would benefit from being sent any of the above care kits, you can ‘nominate’ them (by emailing me - see ‘contact’ page) and they will be added to the waiting list.
